Freemasons...who are you?
by feenx ini saw in a different post there was a discussion about jw's being linked to freemasons.
one poster replied that they were a mason and they know for sure there's no link.
that got me to thinking...i've never had any contact with an actual mason.

I worked with a guy whose Dad was a free mason. He said when he was younger he found some book he wasn't supposed too, but it wasn't like top secret or anything. He painted his Dad as just a normal individual. Also I think I had a great uncle who was a big freemason because my Mom was saying she had to march in a parade they threw. I had never heard my Mom tell that story before but she also painted him as just a normal guy. She is pretty up front about weirdo's and freaks even with in the JW's. So I mean I think the freemason stuff is way over blown personally.

I'm so glad my parents never force anything on me. Then again they usually have to pull the "agree to disagree" thing when we argue and I never give them higher ground. I think that has a lot to do with it.

Blood conversation with JW
by besty innot many jw's speak to me - london penge's chief apostate is persona non grata :-).
in any case there are a few who still speak to us (less than 10 altogether but still, bethel take note...) and i had the opportunity to discuss the blood fiasco with one of them recently.
their argument was that even if the wts gets some things wrong, they get a lot right and jehovah will sort it all out.

You have to love the "but it helps more then hurts" argument. Even though they never will accept that the Baptist, Mormons, Catholics, Crazy Scientologist (I endorse every other religion over Scientology just to clear that up) and others might "help more then they hurt". It's mind boggling to hear a JW have to fall to this level...and funny.

Isn't this board all about opinions and differences thereof? In my neck of the woods the majority of southern girls I meet are far more manipulative and sneaky then the majority of Northerns I meet. As for the first part you highlighted I have heard this from sooooo many people it's not even funny any more and the more I notice the more it seems true. In Charlotte you have a HUGE mix of Northerners and Southerners, so it gives me a little bit different perspective on things.

What is the HIDDEN purpose of the Watchtower corporation?

isn't it weird they know next to nothing after over a hundred years of door to door work???.
ask yourself why this has been such an ineffective ministry.. one actor, tom cruise, has raised more awareness about his own religion (scientology) than all the watchtower magazines placed at a million households.

I believe the guys at the top really believe in what they do. I doubt they have some big evil conspiracy only to make money. If so they would be living in mansions driving BMW's and Mercedes all over Manhattan. I do believe though that they need to maintain what they have accomplished.

It must be your age. One of the things I love about my fellow southern ladies is that they will tell you like it is, but with sugar on top.
This is exactly what I was saying, instead of just saying it like it is there is a fake politeness to it. You know why Northerners hate living in the south? Because they know that NO ONE is ever that polite with out some hidden agenda. This makes most southerners worst and harder to deal with. You know what I always hear southern belles say? "I'll just smile in her face to piss her off more". You know what I hear most Northern non southern women say? "I'm going to beat her ass and tell her like it is". I respect that ten times more then the smile in your face crap. I grew up in a small town where there was a débutante school (these are the ones actually trying to be Scarlett O'Hare), so it has nothing to do with my age. Also the majority of my friends I grew up with were 5th and 6th generation in the south. I heard plenty of stories from Grandpa's about how great southern women are.....it hasn't changed.
